Andre Carson Outlines Solutions for Indiana's Worsening Foreclosure Crisis

Indianapolis - André Carson, Democratic Congressional Candidate in Indiana's 7th District, called for urgent solutions to address the worsening subprime lending crisis that is taking a drastic toll on Indiana's middle class families:

"The news that Indianapolis now ranks 18th in the nation in home foreclosures underscores Washington's failure to address our national mortgage crisis and the need for urgent bipartisan solutions."

"As a Member of Congress, I will lead the fight for solutions to address our national mortgage crisis. I will work to put an end to predatory lending practices that went unchecked for too long. I will restore basic consumer protections and ensure that the mortgage industry follows sound lending principles when issuing home loans.

"I welcome the 30-day Foreclosure Moratorium announced by Treasury Secretary Paulson this week as a positive first step to help families who are hurting. But while it may offer a temporary lifeline for our struggling families, we need to work toward more permanent solutions to end this crisis once and for all. I am prepared to lead that fight in Washington.

"One more foreclosure on a hardworking family in Indianapolis is one more too many. Hardworking Hoosiers deserve a leader in Congress who will fight to bring change to Washington that will end this national mortgage crisis and restore the American dream of homeownership for all of Indiana's working families."
