Andre Carson, Jon Elrod Differ on Relief for Working Hoosiers

Elrod Opposes Relief for Middle Class Families and Small Businesses

Indianapolis - André Carson, Democratic Congressional Candidate in Indiana's 7th District, stood up for good jobs and economic relief for Hoosiers today on "Indiana Insiders."  On the same program, Republican Congressional Candidate Jon Elrod broke with Indiana's entire Congressional Delegation by saying he would have voted against the economic stimulus package, which gives middle-class Hoosier families and small businesses the tax relief they need in order to jump-start the economy and create jobs in Indiana.

"While I will work across the aisle to help middle-class Hoosiers who are playing by the rules and still loosing out in our failing economy, Jon Elrod rejects this bipartisan effort to stimulate our economy that benefits the working Hoosiers who need it most," said Carson.  "If elected to Congress, I will take responsibility for bringing more relief for our middle-class families and small businesses, giving them the opportunity to succeed."

Jon Elrod said he would have opposed the economic stimulus package, a bipartisan effort to jumpstart America's failing economy, which passed almost unanimously earlier this year.  Hoosiers will receive tax relief of up to $600 per individual and $1,200 per married couple, plus an additional $300 per child. The broad-based package promotes small business investment and will help create 500,000 jobs by the end of the year in our country.
